Hainan's free trade zone provides for the development of a number of areas, including the health sector

HAIKOU, November 7. /TASS/. The Hainan authorities plan to ensure access of residents of all countries to the services of traditional oriental medicine through industry modernization, the development of comprehensive programs with the participation of professional clinics and the best travel agencies, reported the Zhongguo Xinwenwang portal.

According to the news outlet, the other day the island administration published "Comments on practical measures for the preservation and innovative development of traditional medicine at Hainan's free trade port" — a document listing key criteria of the regional government's new policy to create a system of modern health services focused on both for domestic and foreign consumers.

According to the plan, by 2022, all Hainan's county traditional medicine clinics should choose a narrow area of specialization, create at least one department, which will provide high-quality services, for example, in the field of immunology (dermatology, gynecology, dermatology, oncology, etc). In addition, all major hospitals on the island must establish units offering specific courses for patient rehabilitation.

"At the same time, it is planned to create innovative tourism products in the province with an emphasis on oriental medicine," the local administration says in comments. "In connection with the development of a special consumption zone on Hainan, a new model of health tourism will be created."

According to the document, the authorities intend to boost the construction of sanatoriums at state clinics, encourage cooperation of travel agencies with medical institutions to promote traditional Chinese medicine on the domestic and foreign markets.

Hainan's free trade zone provides for the development of a number of areas, including the health sector. In order to do so, the government is going to actively involve advanced foreign technologies and experienced foreign specialists. Medical tourism facilities are being created on the island, with billions of dollars in investments. Clinics of both Chinese and Western medicine are involved in the program, providing top-notch wellness services.
