TASS and Xinhua joint exhibition kicks off in Sanya

Seventy photos demonstrate different phases of relations between the two states

SANYA, December 9. /TASS/. A joint TASS and Xinhua agencies' exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Russia and China kicked off in China's resort city of Sanya on Monday. The exposition is a part of the Russian Culture Week running here until December 16.

The phases of diplomatic relations

TASS Director General Sergei Mikhailov, Russia's Consul General in Guangzhou Viktor Pashkov, as well as Secretary of the Communist Party Committee in Sanya Tong Daochi and head of the propaganda department of the Communist Party Committee of the Hainan Province Xiao Yingzi attended the opening ceremony.

"We included the best photographs made by TASS photojournalists in this exhibition — witnesses of a long friendship between China and Russia," Sergei Mikhailov said at the ceremony.

Seventy photos by the best photographers of Russia and China's leading news agencies show various stages of relations between the two countries. The images, some of which have not yet been published, show Soviet specialists, Chinese workers and farmers from the late 40s-50s, the restoration of friendly contacts between the two countries and peoples in the 80s and 90s of the last century, important milestones of bilateral cooperation over the past two decades, when bilateral relations have turned into a comprehensive strategic partnership.

A number of photos is devoted to cooperation between TASS and Xinhua journalists. Thus, in one of the images there are leaders of the two countries among the participants of the press tour of Russian and Chinese journalists in the Russian Far East — an event that has already become historic. Their trip demonstrated the possibilities of close cooperation between the Russian and the Chinese media communities.

The Mangrove Tree Hotel's hall was sold out, and the audience — the locals, tourists, as well as representatives of the Russian diaspora in Sanya were amazed by the show.
