LUGANSK, May 25. /TASS/. Russia’s Battlegroup North units demonstrated the best results in liberating territory from Ukrainian troops in the period from May 16 to 22, 2026, advancing in the Sumy and Kharkov Regions, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS.

He noted that the Russian Armed Forces last week took control of five settlements, including Volokhovka and Shesterovka in the Kharkov Region. "The best results in liberating occupied territories over the previous week were demonstrated by the Battlegroup North’s fighters, operating in the Sumy and Kharkov Regions," Marochko said.

He added that units of the Battlegroup East operating in the Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye Regions inflicted the greatest damage on the Ukrainian armed forces’ manpower in their area of responsibility.
