Putin, Israeli PM to discuss Mideast developments, bilateral ties in Sochi on October 22

This will be the first meeting between Vladimir Putin and the new Israeli prime minister

MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. At the Sochi-hosted talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will focus on bilateral relations as well as the situation in the Middle East, the Kremlin’s press service reported on Thursday.

"The purpose is to consider issues on the development of bilateral cooperation in various fields, as well as to share opinions on the situation in the Middle East," the message reads.

The office of the Israeli Prime Minister previously stated that at the meeting, Bennett and Putin intend to discuss Iran, among other things, as well as a number of topics dealing with politics, security, and economics.

Bennett took the reins as Israel’s prime minister on June 13. He replaced Benjamin Netanyahu who had held that office for 12 years since 2009. This will be the first meeting between Putin and the new Israeli premier. The Russian leader, congratulating Bennett in June on his election, noted that he hoped to further advance constructive bilateral cooperation in all areas.
