According to the newspaper, these events contribute to the dynamic development of the local consumer sector and serve as an important stimulus for economic growth. Some of the biggest events that took place in Sanya in 2024 include the 6th Hainan International Film Festival, the Asian Seed Congress, a major yacht show, a vintage car exhibition, a wedding fashion week and the Manghe Music Festival, which attracted tens of thousands of spectators.
The Sanya Commerce Department noted that in the coming period, the authorities plan to step up their efforts to ensure that business projects are closely linked with cultural, sports and tourism activities, to effectively allocate available resources, bring more diversity to the tourism sector, and enhance its attractiveness and competitiveness.
Promotion plays a special role in the implementation of measures to revitalize Sanya's market. In particular, the issuance of duty-free coupons, combined with the cultural and tourism component, creates new opportunities to increase tourist arrivals. According to official estimates, these vouchers, which can be used at duty-free shops, cafes, restaurants and hotels, worth 145.8 million yuan (approximately $20.3 million at current exchange rates), will stimulate purchases worth 2.39 billion yuan ($332 million) in 2024. Such programs are known to attract tens of thousands of additional vacationers to Hainan.
Holding these numerous exhibition events contributes to the simultaneous dynamic development of a number of industries, such as the entertainment industry, the restaurant and hotel industry, and the transportation industry.
