ANKARA, January 27. /TASS/. Consumers in Turkey will start to receive natural gas from the from the Sakarya field in the Black Sea at the end of March, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said at a press conference in the city of Bilecik on Friday. The broadcast was conducted on his Twitter page.
"From the end of March, we will start supplying Black Sea gas to consumers in Turkey. We have increased oil production thanks to the discoveries made in Adana and Cizre. The construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant also continues uninterruptedly. We will start generating electricity at the first unit of the nuclear power plant this year," the Turkish President said.
According to the Turkish authorities, the reserves of gas fields in the Black Sea amount to about 540 billion cubic meters. The largest of them is Sakarya, with reserves exceeding 400 billion cubic meters. At the initial stage, it is planned to produce about 10 million cubic meters of gas per day from the Sakarya field, or from 3.4 to 4 billion cubic meters per year. By 2027-2028, the daily volume of gas production should be 40 million cubic meters, the annual volumes will grow to 15 billion cubic meters.
