Russia wins railway legal battle with Ukraine in WTO

Russia has won a WTO dispute over railway vehicles and equipment launched by Ukraine in 2015

MOSCOW, July 30. /TASS/. Russia has won a WTO dispute over railway vehicles and equipment launched by Ukraine in 2015, a source in the Economic Development Ministry’s press service told TASS.

"We confirm (the WTO arbitration took Russia’s side in the dispute - TASS)," he said.

In October 2015, Kiev filed a suit with the World Trade Organization against Russia over restrictions slapped on supplies of Ukrainian rolling stock and railroad switches. According to the data provided by the Ukrainians, exports of rolling stock and switches to Russia dropped from $1.7 bln in 2013 to $51 mln in seven months of 2015.

The restrictions hit the Kryukov carriage-building plant and the Dnepropetrovsk switch-building plant, as well as other enterprises.
