Prototype of new transport aircraft to be ready in late 2026 — Russian Defense Minister

According to Sergey Shoigu, the United Aircraft Corporation has already initiated development of technical design of the Il-212 airplane

MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. Production of a prototype specimen of the new military transport aircraft Il-212 is planned at the end of 2026, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said.

"Prototype specimen production is scheduled in late 2026," the minister stated.

According to Shoigu, the United Aircraft Corporation has already initiated development of technical design of the Il-212 airplane. These aircraft will replace the An-26 and An-72 airplane fleet that is becoming obsolete.
