Severomorsk welcomes Admiral Golovko frigate

The Admiral Golovko of project 22350 was built by Severnaya Verf Shipyard and joined the Navy on December 25, 2023 in the presence of President Vladimir Putin

MOSCOW, January 11. /TASS/. The Admiral Golovko frigate that joined the Navy in December completed a voyage from St. Petersburg to Severomorsk main base of the Northern fleet and was welcomed by Northern fleet Commander Alexander Moiseev, who said the new warship will increase the capabilities of the Russian Navy.

Frigate Commander Captain 2nd rank Andrey Slavin reported to Moiseev about the successful voyage to the Northern fleet.

"She is the latest warship that comprises the backbone of blue-water ships. The frigate will operate in important areas of the World Ocean for our country. The arrival of the warship considerably increases the combat might of the fleet," Moiseev said.

Frigates of project 22350 are built with the latest technologies and are armed with precision weapons, including hypersonic missiles that "raise the combat capabilities of our surface forces to a principally new level," the fleet commander said.

The Admiral Golovko of project 22350 was built by Severnaya Verf Shipyard and joined the Navy on December 25, 2023 in the presence of President Vladimir Putin. The warship is armed with Kalibr and Onyx missiles, antiaircraft and artillery guns, the latest antisubmarine weapons and electronic warfare. The frigate is highly maneuverable and seaworthy and has a modern navigational complex.

Frigates of project 22350 are designated to fight submarines and warships in oceans and seas and to repel air attacks both independently and within formations. The hull of the frigates is flush-decked. It has a three-island superstructure, one mast-turret and one steel funnel. Stealth technologies were used in the construction to make the warship practically invisible for the radars of the potential adversary. The displacement is close to 4450 tons, the length is 135 meters. Diesel gas-turbine power plant has a capacity of 65000 horsepower. The warship is armed with a new 130mm artillery gun A-192, anti-ship, anti-submarine and anti-aircraft missiles, including Poliment-Redut. It can carry Ka-27 helicopter or its modifications.
