MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. Palestine opposes the idea of forcible displacement of people from the Gaza Strip, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal stated at a press conference.
"Rest assured that we, Palestinians, we will stay on our land, and this is not an exaggeration, we are against forced removal," the diplomat noted.
"There is not a single Palestinian who is eager or ready to leave their land, whatever is offered in return. I assure you that we will reach an intra-Palestinian agreement. More importantly, we will rebuild the Gaza Strip and it will be even more prosperous than before," the ambassador added.
On February 4, Trump said at a joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US was considering long-term ownership of the Gaza Strip in order to develop it for the sake of peace in the Middle East. He also signaled a willingness to send US troops there and proposed relocating Palestinians from the enclave to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan.
Palestinian authorities and representatives of many other countries have opposed Trump's proposals. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow took note of the US president's idea, but also acknowledged that Egypt and Jordan have refused to cooperate with the plan.
