Rome supports 30-day ceasefire idea in Ukraine and all of Washington’s decisions

ROME, March 12. /TASS/. Italy welcomes the outcome of negotiations between the US and Ukrainian delegations in Jeddah and supports the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire and the resumption of US aid to Kiev, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said.

According to her statement, Italy fully supports US efforts, led by President Donald Trump, to achieve a "just peace that would guarantee the security of Ukraine in the long term," Radio-1 reports. Rome awaits Moscow's decision.

On Tuesday, negotiations between the US and Ukrainian delegations took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Following the 9.5-hour negotiations, a joint statement was published on Vladimir Zelensky's website, according to which Ukraine is ready to accept the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, and Washington will immediately lift the pause in intelligence sharing and resume providing assistance to Kiev. The parties agreed to conclude a comprehensive agreement on the development of critical mineral resources as soon as possible to strengthen the Ukrainian economy, the statement also noted. The head of Zelensky's office, Andrey Yermak, said after negotiations with the American delegation that the minerals deal in Ukraine would be signed when the United States deems it convenient.
