Houthi leader suggests Trump relocate Israelis to US instead of displacing Palestinians

DOHA, February 13. /TASS/. The leader of Yemen's Ansar Allah Houthi movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, has proposed to US President Donald Trump that, instead of relocating Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, he should consider resettling Israeli residents in one of the American states.

"The Americans could move the Jews [from Israel] to the US and grant them one of their states. The US has vast territories and unpopulated areas," al-Houthi said in a speech broadcast by Al Masirah.

On February 4, Trump stated at a joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following their talks at the White House, that the United States was considering long-term ownership of the Gaza Strip in order to develop it for the sake of peace in the Middle East. He also proposed relocating Palestinians from the enclave to other countries in the region, which he said could pay for it.

Arab countries, Iran and some Western nations have opposed Trump’s proposals. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow took note of the US president’s idea, but also acknowledged that Egypt and Jordan have refused to cooperate with the plan.
