BEIRUT, January 21. /TASS/. One of the leaders of the Hezbollah Shiite organization, Sheikh Muhammad Hamadeh, has been killed in an armed attack in the Western Beqaa region of central Lebanon, the Janoubia news website reported.
According to the portal, the vehicle carrying the Shiite politician was ambushed near the village of Machghara.
The militants shot the sheikh six times. He was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.
So far, no armed group has claimed responsibility for the assassination. This marks the first time a member of Hezbollah's leadership has been assassinated since the ceasefire in southern Lebanon took effect on November 27, 2024.
