Google removes Ukraine’s military sites from its Maps at country’s request

On November 3, Andrey Kovalenko accused Google of showing the locations of the Ukrainian army’s military sites in the latest Maps update

MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Google has removed satellite images showing Ukraine's military facilities from Google Maps, Andrey Kovalenko, head of the disinformation-countering branch of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, reported.

On November 3, he accused Google of showing the locations of the Ukrainian army’s military sites in the latest Maps update. Kovalenko stated that representatives from the company had contacted Kiev only after a public outcry.

"Google has fixed the situation. Military objects and sites are no longer exposed in Maps," Kovalenko wrote on his Telegram channel.

Earlier, Google responded to a request from the Economic Truth Ukrainian media outlet, saying that the images had been taken over a year ago from publicly available sources.
