Raisi’s visit to China marks a new chapter in bilateral relations — Chinese ambassador

TASS, February 17. Iranian President’s Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to China on February 14-16 marks the beginning of comprehensive cooperation between Beijing and Tehran, Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Chang Hua wrote in a special letter to IRNA on Friday.

"I’m sure that this visit will effectively take the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Iran to a higher level and mark a new chapter in our bilateral relations," he said.

Chang Hua noted that "close strategic ties represent the historic choice of Iran and China as two ancient civilizations of East and West Asia."

During his official visit, Raisi and Xi Jinping exchanged views on a wide range of issues. The Chinese president stressed that China always looks at Sino-Iranian relations from a strategic perspective and expands them. "Regardless of changes in the international and regional situation, Beijing will remain determined to develop friendly cooperation with Tehran to take the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a higher level amid unprecedented profound changes in the global situation," the letter said.

Both sides reiterated their strong support for each other’s fundamental interests and supported the protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity and national honour of the two countries.
