Belarussian Air Force and Air Defense units are participating in joint drills to practice tasks in accordance with the analysis of the latest military operations in Syria, Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh, the Air Force and Air Defense commander, Igor Golub, told the media on Thursday.

"Yesterday (on January 13 - TASS) I issued instructions to the commanders of military units to alert their forces. The task was to arrive at the designated areas and provide protection for facilities from hypothetical air attacks by the enemy. The task was coped with. The units arrived at the designated sites and took positions," the Belarusian news agency BelTA quotes Golub as saying.

Amid radio-electronic jamming military personnel are practicing struggle against low altitude low speed air targets, such as drones and balloons.

"We have analyzed the strengths and weaknesses that surfaced during military operations in Syria, Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh and are translating this experience into life," Golub said.

He stressed that the Belarusian armed forces were capable of maintaining the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"I can guarantee that all military servicemen have rallied around their commander-in-chief and are ready to cope with any task for the sake of preserving the territorial integrity of our country and the inviolability of our air border and our sovereignty," he stated.
