Kremlin spokesman says reporters in Donbass currently at forefront of information war

"They are often working in challenging economic conditions under circumstances posing a risk to their lives," Dmitry Peskov said

MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Reporters, bloggers and press service employees toiling in the two Donbass republics are at the forefront of the information war, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Administration Sergey Kiriyenko said at an event hosted by Russia’s Knowledge Society earlier on Wednesday that Peskov had visited Donbass the day before to provide training to media and press services from the Lugansk and the Donetsk People’s Republics.

"There are highly skilled young people who are working for the government as well as bloggers, and [those who] control the media, doing a reporter’s job there. <…> They are often working in challenging economic conditions under circumstances posing a risk to their lives," Peskov said, commenting on yesterday's meeting.

According to the Russian presidential spokesman, participants in that meeting "have been shouldering even more responsibilities than the federal media, because they are at the forefront of the information war as well over there."
