Kremlin says Russian intelligence services on constant alert for terrorist attacks

Commenting on the US statement about possible terrorist attacks in Russian cities over Syria, the Kremlin spokesman assured the intelligence services will be ready

MOSCOW, September 29. /TASS/. Russian intelligence services are permanently engaged in anti-terrorism activity, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday when asked to comment on a statement by US State Department spokesman John Kirby about possible terrorist attacks in Russian cities over Syria.

"Under the law, we have special services that engage in fight against terrorism," Peskov said.

"They are doing this on a permanent basis," he added.

"All necessary measures are taken not in the event of some developments, but on a permanent basis," he stressed.

In a statement on Wednesday, Kirby said one of the consequences of the war in Syria could be the extremists’ attacks against Russian interests, perhaps even Russian cities." "And Russia will continue to send troops home in body bags," he said.
