TOKYO, March 20. /TASS/. Russia and Indonesia will hold discussions on trade and economic cooperation next month in the run-up to a visit by the president of the Asian country Prabowo Subianto to Moscow scheduled for June, Russia’s Ambassador to Indonesia Sergey Tolchenov said.
"This joint commission meeting will mark the first step [for Prabowo’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin]. <...> We will have a very comprehensive meeting on economic cooperation, trade, investment, and so on," the Jakarta Globe newspaper quoted Tolchenov as saying.
The meeting of the bilateral commission will be headed by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the diplomat said. Indonesia's Foreign Minister Sugiono will also visit Russia before the meeting of the two countries’ leaders in Moscow in June, he added.
Hartarto said on Wednesday that the Indonesian president would pay a state visit to Russia in June where he intends to sign an agreement on establishing a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
