MELITOPOL, February 14. /TASS/. The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is operating normally in the wake of a Ukrainian artillery attack on a local thermal power facility, also located in Energodar, the ZNPP director of communications, Yevgeniya Yashina, told TASS.
"The Zaporozhye nuke plant was not damaged in last night’s Ukrainian artillery attack on the Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant (ZTPP). The nuclear facility is operating normally," Yashina said.
According to acting Energodar Mayor Maxim Pukhov, Ukrainian troops launched 15 artillery strikes on the city adjacent to the ZNPP.
"As a result of a Ukrainian artillery attack, Energodar, as well as the Kamenka-Dneprovsky and Vesyoloye districts were left without electricity after the Ukrainian armed forces delivered 15 artillery strikes on the Zaporozhye TPP. There were no casualties," the official wrote on his Telegram channel.
Water and electricity supply has been partially restored to Energodar, Pukhov added.
Overnight, the Ukrainian armed forces launched an artillery strike on the Zaporozhye nuke plant as a result of which the energy equipment was critically damaged, and more than 50,000 residents of the region were left without electricity, the regional Ministry of Energy reported earlier.
