Putin to sign treaty on guarantees of security with Belarus

The Russian-Belarusian highest-level meeting will take place on December 6 in Minsk within the Union State Supreme Council

MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the Foreign Ministry’s proposal to sign a treaty between Russia and Belarus on guarantees of security within the Union State.

"Consider it feasible to carry out the signing of the treaty at the highest level," says the presidential decree, published on the official legal information website.

The Russian-Belarusian highest-level meeting (i.e. a meeting at the level of presidents) will take place on December 6 in Minsk within the Union State Supreme Council.

The presidential decree also authorizes the Russian Foreign Ministry to introduce minor amendments to the treaty during the negotiations on the signing.

Previously, the draft treaty was approved by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The treaty has not been published yet.
