MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) would benefit greatly from working more closely with the SCO, BRICS and the CIS, the Russian Foreign Ministry said ahead of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s participation in the OSCE Ministerial Council in Malta.
"It’s hard to say what role, if any, the OSCE can play in today’s changing world. The organization would do well to collaborate with such formats as the SCO, BRICS and the CIS, which are worlds apart in how they operate," the diplomatic agency stressed.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reiterated that the 31st OSCE Ministerial Council, the central governing body of the organization, will meet in Malta on December 5-6.
The ministry added that "for the Russian delegation, the key issue of the upcoming Council will be taking a hard look at how the organization can overcome its internal crisis on the eve of its 50th anniversary.".
