MOSCOW, December 1. /TASS/. Peru has not joined the Western allies against Russia and is refraining from supplying Kiev with military equipment, Russian Ambassador to Peru Igor Romanchenko said in an interview with TASS.
"Lima calls for a peaceful political settlement of the Ukrainian conflict by diplomatic means. It has not joined the Western allies against our country, forming its neutrality, and is refraining from supplying Kiev with military equipment made in Russia (Soviet Union)," the diplomat said.
The ambassador admitted that Russian-Peruvian relations are currently going through difficult times. "At the UN and other international forums, Peruvian representatives, although they currently avoid making openly anti-Russian statements, in most cases vote together with the so-called collective West on the Ukrainian issue," he said.
"At the same time, Lima calls for a peaceful political settlement of the Ukrainian conflict by diplomatic means," Romanchenko noted.
