"The sides stated their mutual readiness to ramp up efforts in the interest of increasing the efficiency of the abovementioned formats and deepening of the mutually beneficial cooperation," the statement reads

MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Russia’s sherpa in BRICS Sergey Ryabkov and Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Berris Ekinci discussed the outcome of the BRICS Summit and its expanded BRICS Plus/Outreach format session, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The sides had an interested exchange of opinions on the outcome of the October 22-24 BRICS Summit in Kazan, including its expanded BRICS Plus/Outreach format session with participation of representatives of the Global South and East, as well as on certain other aspects of the international agenda that pose mutual interest," the ministry said.

Ekinci also had consultations with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin within the program of regular inter-ministry contacts. The two diplomats discussed the cooperation in multilateral economic associations, including the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the G20 and WTO.

"The sides stated their mutual readiness to ramp up efforts in the interest of increasing the efficiency of the abovementioned formats and deepening of the mutually beneficial cooperation," the ministry noted. "The countering of the politicization of these platforms and the promotion of a pragmatic and result-oriented dialogue were pointed out as an important element of joint activity."

The sides reaffirmed the central role of the WTO in the world trade regulation system and stated the need for its reform.

"The sides stated the complex negative effect for the world economy and business from unilateral trade restrictions," the Foreign Ministry said. "The sides discussed the matters of further coordination of actions on the G20 platform, including in the context of preparation for the upcoming November 18-19 summit in Rio de Janeiro."

"The sides separately discussed the topic of strengthening of the voice of developing countries and the re-orientation of this forum’s agenda towards the needs of the global majority," the Ministry noted.
