Russia denies disinformation allegations coming out of Summit for Democracy

According to Maria Zakharova, Russia also believes that inflammatory remarks discrediting the virtue of other countries are unacceptable

MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. Moscow categorically rejects accusations that it carried out disinformation campaigns spread by participants in the Seoul-hosted Summit for Democracy, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"We categorically reject the accusations that Russia carried out some disinformation campaigns that were voiced during this gathering," the diplomat said at a briefing. Zakharova stressed that the accusations came from "the United States, who made up the Bucha story" of civilian killings together with the Kiev regime without even bothering to name the victims. "Those who spread disinformation are making disinformation accusations against us," she added.

According to Zakharova, Russia also believes that inflammatory remarks discrediting the virtue of other countries are unacceptable. "We believe that it’s absolutely unacceptable to tarnish the image of the People’s Republic of China by spreading accusations of information manipulation, which is how it was put. This is a typical example of the West’s actions built on bias and double standards," the diplomat said.

She noted that the Seoul event was the third Summit for Democracy organized by the US administration. However, this attempt failed completely just like the two previous ones, Zakharova added. According to her, the US authorities' claim to leadership in promoting democratic values across the world is completely misguided.
