Through holes, metal objects found in wreckage of AZAL plane — report

The report notes the discovery of several metal objects illustrated by photographs

ASTANA, February 4. /TASS/. Initial inspection of the wreckage of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane near Aktau Airport found numerous through holes and metal objects. An examination of these findings is currently underway, according to a preliminary report on the investigation into the crash, released by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport.

"The initial examination of the remaining fragments found many through holes and dents of different size and shape in the tail section of the fuselage, the vertical stabilizer, and the horizontal stabilizers, as well as in the elevators and rudders. Similar damage was found on the left engine and left wing of the aircraft, as well as on various components and systems of the aircraft. Some holes have a distinct rectangular shape," the report reads.

It also notes the discovery of several metal objects illustrated by photographs.

"To determine the nature and origin of the through holes caused by these objects, appropriate studies and examinations will be conducted," the report concludes.
