Central Banks of Russia, Jordan become main sellers of gold among regulators in January

The largest buyer of gold in January was the Central Bank of Uzbekistan

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. The Central Banks of Russia and Jordan sold 3 tons of gold in January each, becoming the largest sellers of the precious metal in January 2025 among global financial regulators, according to a statement by the World Gold Council (WGC).

"Notable sellers for the month include the Central Bank of Russia and the Central Bank of Jordan, which both sold 3 tonnes respectively, and the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic which sold 2 tonnes," the statement said.

At the same time, the largest buyer of gold in January was the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, which purchased eight tons of gold.

In total, the world's central banks bought 18 tons of gold for their reserves in January 2025.
