MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. German carmakers have no prospects on the Russian market, having ruined their positions, the head of the "G.O.R.K.I." center of the St. Petersburg State University and former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl said in an interview with TASS.
"We see that German car producers, for example, have lost their positions, with their facilities having been taken by Chinese companies. The German car industry has no prospects due to various reasons. It has ruined its positions on the Russian market, and now it is ruining them on the Chinese [market]," she said.
"The demand for expensive German cars will remain niche, for a small group of people who consider them as a status symbol. Whereas mass demand will be taken by other car makers. This is why I don’t think that the return of some companies to the Russian market will solve their problems," Kneissl added.
