Bank of Russia delays mass launch of digital ruble from this summer

Around 1,700 citizens and about 30 companies are taking part in the digital ruble pilot projects, Elvira Nabiullina said

ANOSINO (Moscow Region), February 27. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia has delayed the mass rollout of the digital ruble from this summer, Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina said, adding that the date will be determined at a later time.

"We will shift to mass introduction of the digital ruble a bit later than initially planned, specifically - after all pilot phases are worked out and all consultations with banks on the economic model that is most beneficial for their clients are completed. We will be able to give the new date of mass deployment later," she said.

Around 1,700 citizens and about 30 companies are taking part in the digital ruble pilot projects, the regulator’s chief added.

Previously, the mass introduction of the digital ruble was planned after July 1, 2025.
