BAGHDAD, February 27. /TASS/. Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov has given an instruction to draft a roadmap for the implementation of the Nasiriya oil project in Iraq shortly.
"We rate high this project. We have already reached an agreement at the intergovernmental level [on it], and now we are providing respective instructions to our companies to draft a roadmap on implementation of the project in the near future," he told reporters following the meeting of the Russian-Iraqi intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation.
"Our company that plans to enter the project, regards it as one of the most important from the viewpoint of oil production," the minister added.
Russia’s Energy Ministry said earlier that Moscow and Baghdad were discussing conditions for participation of the Russian side in the Nasiriya oil project.
Reuters reported earlier that the Iraqi government had invited Gazprom Neft to take part in the development of the Nasiriya oilfield in the south of the country with estimated reserves of 586 mln tons.
