In 2024, the Netherlands’ total imports of LNG amounted to about 21 bln cubic meters

THE HAGUE, February 12. /TASS/. The Netherlands increased imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia by 68% year-on-year in 2024 to 1.92 bln cubic meters, according to a report by the Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

In 2023, imports of LNG from Russia totaled 1.14 bln cubic meters.

In 2024, the Netherlands’ total imports of LNG amounted to about 21 bln cubic meters.

Of this volume, LNG imports from the United States amounted to 14.43 bln cubic meters, which is down 18% year-year-on-year or 3.1 bln cubic meters less than in 2023. Imports from Norway totaled 1.34 bln cubic meters, which is down 2% year-on-year.

According to statistics, the Netherlands’ gas consumption in 2024 as a whole amounted to about 30 billion cubic meters, which is approximately the same as in 2023. Industry consumed more natural gas, while electricity generation required less.
