Gazprombank remains sole authorized bank in ruble gas payments

Gazprombank does not provide assistance any more to foreign buyers in converting foreign exchange to rubles for purposes of payments for natural gas, the credit institution said

MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. Gazprom remains the sole authorized bank in accordance with amendments to the presidential decree on payments for gas in rubles, a spokesman of the bank told TASS.

"On December 5, the decree of the Russian President on amendments to the decree of the Russian Federation President dated March 31, 2022 No. 172 ‘On the special procedure for performance of obligations toward Russian natural gas suppliers by foreign buyers’ was posted. In accordance with the document, Gazprom continues to be the single authorized bank through which settlements are made for natural gas supply by foreign buyers from unfriendly countries or by foreign buyers making natural gas supply to unfriendly countries," the bank said.

Gazprombank does not provide assistance any more to foreign buyers in converting foreign exchange to rubles for purposes of payments for natural gas, the credit institution said.

"The obligation of payment for natural gas supply is considered performed by a foreign buyer from the time when funds in rubles are credited at a ruble account opened by a Russian supplier with Gazprombank," the bank added.
