China to move forward with combination of conventional, new energy sources — CEEC

"The traditional energy sector fully demonstrates that it acts as a security guarantor and enables structural optimization of reserves, production capacity and scale, and stabilization of energy supplies," Song Hailiang said

BEIJING, March 7. /TASS/. The Chinese economy will develop on the basis of a comprehensive model combining modernized traditional energy segments with the new energy technology sector, Board Chairman of the China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) Song Hailiang told TASS on Tuesday.

"China is pursuing comprehensive development based on modernized coal power combined with new energy technologies," the senior manager said. "Taking into account the long-term practice of studies completed by the CEEC in the sphere of traditional and new energy sources, my advice is to ramp up establishment of the alternative energy sources sector on an ongoing basis while simultaneously expediting the process of transforming the coal-fired power industry, upgrading it into a new eco-friendly form," Song Hailiang said.

China has stayed committed to the concept of ecological development and strengthened environmental protection measures over the last five years, the CEEC top manager said. "This has made it possible to set a trend for sustainable low-carbon development and maintain stable demand and supply on the energy market," he noted.

"The traditional energy sector fully demonstrates that it acts as a security guarantor and enables structural optimization of reserves, production capacity and scale, and stabilization of energy supplies," the top manager added.
