Four more countries may soon accept Russia’s Mir payment card — Bank of Russia

ST. PETERSBURG, June 16. /TASS/. Mir payment system cards may soon be accepted in four more countries, Olga Skorobogatova, First Deputy Chairperson of the Bank of Russia, told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. She did not specify the countries.

"We have good news. In addition to the 10 countries that now accept [Mir cards], there are four more on the agenda. I can’t say the names, but just over the last two months two countries have been added. We hope that you will learn about them soon," Skorobogatova said.

Currently, Mir cards are accepted in 10 foreign countries: Turkey, Vietnam, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum organized by the Roscongress Foundation is running from June 15 to 18. This year’s forum is dubbed: ‘New Opportunities in a New World’.
