Maritime board chief notes importance of exchanging experience with Vietnam

Nikolay Patrushev highlighted that signs of a burgeoning global naval arms race are evident

MOSCOW, May 22. /TASS/. Nikolay Patrushev, an advisor to the Russian President and Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, has emphasized the importance of enhancing naval expertise exchange between Russian and Vietnamese maritime forces amid the shifting global landscape and the increasing influence of naval power.

He highlighted that signs of a burgeoning global naval arms race are evident, and as the international order undergoes reform, the significance of naval strength will only intensify. Patrushev pointed out that maritime conflicts - such as blockades and piracy - are reemerging as tools of competition on the high seas.

"In this context, it is essential to incorporate these developments into the ongoing evolution of Russian-Vietnamese cooperation across military, political, and economic domains. That is why it is so important for us to engage in comprehensive discussions on various topics, including joint naval activities, military-technical collaboration, and the sharing of operational experience among our naval personnel," he stated.

He also underscored key areas for partnership, such as personnel training, the development and utilization of shipbuilding and repair infrastructure in both countries, and the pursuit of innovative technological advancements.
