MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. The Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots has recommended that the chamber ratify an agreement on defense cooperation with South Ossetia.
"The State Duma is hereby recommended to pass the federal law On the Ratification of a Defense Cooperation Agreement Between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia," the committee said in a statement. "We suggest the State Duma Council include the above-mentioned bill into the house’s agenda for November 19, 2024," the committee added.
The agreement was signed in the South Ossetian capital of Tskhinval on August 23, 2023. Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted the accord to the State Duma for ratification on September 19. An explanatory note said that the document "aims to deepen defense cooperation."
