WASHINGTON, October 1. /TASS/. The US Senate has failed to adopt two bills to keep the federal government funded, according to a C-SPAN broadcast.
A bill developed by Republicans and approved by the House of the Representatives failed in a 55 to 45 vote. Meanwhile, 47 senators voted in favor of a Democratic bill, and 53 opposed.
A bill needs to hit the 60-vote threshold to pass.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump did not rule out a government shutdown unless Republican and Democrat lawmakers reached a consensus on government funding by October 1.
