MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/. Serbia will continue its strategic cooperation with Russia despite mounting pressure from the European Union to turn against Moscow, a senior Serbian lawmaker said.

"We are surrounded by European Union member states and face constant pressure to impose sanctions on Russia. We continue our strategic cooperation with Russia, with our dear friends, despite the pressure we are under," Milovan Drecun, chairman of the Serbian parliamentary committee on security and head of the Serbian parliamentary delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), said at a session of the CSTO PA Council.

According to the Serbian lawmaker, his country highly values the CSTO countries’ position and support on the Kosovo issue and is thankful for that.

The meeting of the CSTO PA Council is being held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, which holds the CSTO presidency in 2025. The meeting is being chaired by speaker of the Russian State Duma, or lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, who is also CSTO PA speaker.
