US pressure causes China, Russia to enhance cooperation in space

Wu Weizhen, the chief designer of China’s Lunar Program, said that Washington has exerted pressure on China’s attempts to engage with European countries

SHANGHAI, April 23. /TASS/. The pressure from Washington to curb China’s development has prompted Moscow and Beijing to deepen their collaboration in the space industry, according to Wu Weizhen, the chief designer of China’s Lunar Program.

Speaking to the media at the International Conference on the Development of the International Lunar Station, Wu highlighted the growing partnership between China and Russia.

"The United States interferes in China’s efforts to foster international cooperation," Wu explained. "For instance, Washington has exerted pressure on China’s attempts to engage with European countries. As a result, the current collaboration between China and Russia - particularly regarding the International Lunar Research Station - is now the strongest," he emphasized.

Wu also acknowledged the significant historical contributions of the Soviet Union and Russia to space exploration, underscoring the vital importance of international cooperation in advancing this frontier.
