BELGRADE, March 31. /TASS/. Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik arrived in Moscow despite the international arrest warrant against him issued by the Interpol office in Sarajevo, according to a video he posted to X.
The video shows the Bosnian Serb leader speaking as he stands near Kremlin walls.
"I have arrived in Moscow. Every visit I make here begins with a trip to the monument to the Unknown Soldier to pay tribute to the 28 million Russians who died during World War II," Dodik said. "I will be here again on May 9 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory over fascism."
Earlier, Republika Srpska Parliament Chairman Nenad Stevandic told TASS that he and Dodik planned to attend the Victory Parade on May 9.
On February 26, a court in Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Dodik to one year in prison and prohibited him from political activities for six years for disregarding the decisions of the high representative of the international community in the country, Christian Schmidt. The ruling by the first-instance court can be appealed.
On March 12, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina requested the assistance of security agencies in the detention of Dodik, Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic and Parliament Chairman Nenad Stevandic. Interior Minister Sinisa Karan ruled out their detention.
On March 27, the Interpol office in Sarajevo issued an international search warrant for Dodik and Stevandic. Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic later said the warrant has no legal effect and violates the organization's charter. According to news reports, Hungary also appealed the warrant against Dodik.
