Lula da Silva confirms plans to attend Victory Day celebrations in Moscow

HANOI, March 29. /TASS/. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has confirmed that he plans to visit Russia in May and take part in the celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

"I plan to come to Russia on May 9 to take part in the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in World War II (the Great Patriotic War - TASS)," the Brazilian leader said at a press conference following his state visit to Vietnam.

Lula da Silva also said that he plans to discuss the potential peaceful settlement in Ukraine with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during his visit to Russia in May. The Brazilian leader emphasized that he intends to discuss the settlement in Ukraine during his visits to Russia and China. "At these meetings, I will discuss the issue of peace [in Ukraine]," the president pointed out. "We (Brazil and China - TASS) expect the start of the negotiation process [between Russia and Ukraine]," he added.
