Leader of Iran calls on world to unite in opposing new Israeli attacks on Gaza

"The US also shares responsibility for this tragedy," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stressed

DUBAI, March 20. /TASS/. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has urged Islamic countries and nations of the world to come together in opposition of Israel’s resumption of strikes on the Gaza Strip, when addressing his people on the occasion of Nowruz, the Persian New Year.

"The resumption of attacks by the Zionist regime (Israel - TASS) against the Gaza Strip is a heinous crime. Islamic countries must set aside their differences and stand in united opposition against these attacks. This problem is a problem for all Muslim states. Moreover, the free people of the entire world, both in the US and in Western and European countries, should oppose these criminal actions and acts of violence," he said.

"The US also shares responsibility for this tragedy. Everyone agrees that this step was taken on the instructions of the US or, at the very least, with its agreement. Thus, America is an accomplice in this crime. The situation in Yemen is the same: the attack on its people, on Yemen’s civilians is also a crime, and it needs to be stopped," he added.

On March 15, on orders from US President Donald Trump, the US began to launch massive strikes against the Houthi-controlled territory of Yemen. On March 18, the Israel Defense Forces targeted facilities of the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip in violation of the ceasefire agreement. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office justified the step by the Palestinian movement’s rejection of proposals put forward at the talks by mediators and US special envoy Steve Witkoff.

Hamas accused Israel and the United States of breaking the ceasefire, saying that it had adhered to the truce. The Houthis vowed to resume attacks on Israel-affiliated vessels in the Red Sea. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 430 people have been killed and over 670 more have been injured in the Israeli strikes.
