WASHINGTON, February 14. /TASS/. The US presence in Europe won't last forever, that's why Europe should be able to take care of itself, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said at a press conference in Warsaw.
"What happens five or ten or 15 years from now is part of a larger discussion that reflects the threat level, America’s posture, our needs around the globe, but most significantly, the capability of European countries to step up. And that’s why our message is so stark to our European allies. Now is the time to invest, because you can’t make an assumption that America’s presence will last forever," he said.
Hegseth also pointed out that the US is committed to working with NATO and reiterated the country's call for allies to increase defense spending.
