Israel should compensate all losses to Palestine, says Turkish president

"A comprehensive settlement implies Palestine establishing its autonomous, sovereign and geographically integrated State of Palestine based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital," Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed

ANKARA, February 11. /TASS/. Israel should compensate Palestinians who have suffered damage inflicted on them during the period of conflict, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a press conference in Malaysia.

"We held in-depth discussions on international matters, especially on the Palestinian issue. The main concern is that Israel is persistently implementing a policy of occupation, conquest and bloodshed. As in every previous conflict, Israel has not kept its promises in the recent ceasefire agreement. It must end its occupation of Palestinian lands and reparations for the damage caused," Erdogan said following talks with Turkish Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

"A comprehensive settlement implies Palestine establishing its autonomous, sovereign and geographically integrated State of Palestine based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital," The Turkish president added.

"Turkey and Malaysia will continue supporting Palestine. Turkey has so far sent over 100 aid ships to the state, and the distribution of humanitarian goods is ongoing. It is gratifying to note Malaysia's stance on Gaza and Palestine," Erdogan stressed.

Erdogan and a delegation of senior Turkish ministers are currently on their Asia tour. After visiting Malaysia, Turkey’s leader will be heading to Indonesia and Pakistan, aiming to sign a number of agreements and memorandums on cooperation, trade and investment with countries Ankara already has firm ties with.
