India sees Russia as its reliable partner in defense sphere — defense minister

The corporatization of India’s defense sector took place in 2021

NEW DELHI, February 9. /TASS/. India sees Russia as its longtime and reliable partner in the defense sphere, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh told TASS.

"Russia is a longtime reliable partner," he said ahead of the Aero India 2025 international show that opens on Monday.

"After corporatization of ordnance factories, our defense public sector companies are producing [Russian] weapons," he noted.

The corporatization of India’s defense sector took place in 2021 when seven public sector enterprises were set up under the Indian defense ministry.

On Monday, Singh will open the Aero India 2025 international show, which has been held at the Yelahanka Airbase in southern India since 1996. Russia is among the leading exhibitors at the show. This year, a Russian fifth generation Su-57 fighter jet will perform display flights.
