Israel delivers strike on vehicle transporting weapons in south Lebanon

The IDF emphasized that Israeli troops are operating in accordance with the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon

TEL AVIV, December 18. /TASS/. The Israel Defense Forces said it had delivered a strike on a vehicle used by Hezbollah to transport weapons on the territory of Lebanon, the IDF press service said.

"[On] Tuesday, a Hezbollah terrorist was identified loading a vehicle with weapons in southern Lebanon, in violation of the ceasefire agreements between Israel and Lebanon. The IAF struck the vehicle in order to eliminate the threat," the press service said in a statement.

The IDF emphasized that Israeli troops are operating in accordance with the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon, but are ready to "operate against any threat posed to the State of Israel and its citizens."

The agreement on the first ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon since hostilities flared up in October 2023 took effect on the morning of November 27. US President Joe Biden announced that the agreements between the Jewish state and Hezbollah provided for the re-establishment of the Lebanese army and state security forces’ control of the country’s territory within 60 days. After that, the Israeli army will be gradually pulled out of Lebanon.
