DUBAI, December 17. /TASS/. The United States will have to leave Syria ignominiously just like it did in Afghanistan and Iraq, an Iranian lawmaker said.
"We already saw this in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Americans came and occupied all of Afghanistan and then ran away with their tail between their legs. They came to Iraq and occupied it as well, only to high-tail it out of there after a few years. The same will happen to them in Syria," the Didban Iran news portal quoted Esmail Kosari, a member of the Iranian parliament’s national security committee.
According to the Iranian lawmaker, the Syrian people will soon oust both the United States and Israel and "the resistance front will continue its work more resolutely."
Armed opposition units in Syria launched a large-scale offensive on government troops in the Aleppo and Idlib governorates in late November. On December 8, they entered Damascus, while President Bashar Assad stepped down and fled the country. On December 10, Mohammed al-Bashir, who had led the so-called Syrian Salvation Government in the Idlib governorate, announced his appointment as head of Syria’s interim government, saying that the transitional period will last until March 1, 2025. According to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Iran has convincing evidence that the developments in Syria were orchestrated by the United States and Israel with support from a "neighboring country."
