TUNIS, December 13. /TASS/. Powerful explosions went off in Damascus, a source in the Syrian capital told TASS.
According to Al Manar television, the explosions were caused by Israeli shelling. The Syrian Air Force’s Dumeir Base, 40 kilometers northeast of Damascus, was one of the targets.
On December 8, Israel took control of the Syrian side of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights, encountering no resistance. According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the 1974 separation of forces agreement with Syria is no longer valid because Syrian troops left the area after the change of power in Damascus.
The Israeli Air Force continues to strike military sites in Syria. On December 10, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that his country's navy had effectively destroyed the Syrian navy. On December 12, the Israel Defense Forces said its airstrikes obliterated more than 90% of Syria’s known stockpiles of surface-to-air missiles.
