BEIRUT, December 13. /TASS/. Israeli jets carried out a bombing raid of Syrian military sites in the provinces of Latakia and Tartus, which host Russian military bases, Al Mayadeen television reported.

According to the report, the strikes hit command centers and military depots that were used by the Syrian armed forces. The report didn’t provide any information about damage or casualties from the attack.

Syria’s armed opposition units started a major offensive on government troops on November 27 and entered Damascus on December 7. Bashar Assad resigned as president and left the country, giving orders to transfer power peacefully.

Russia has two military sites in Syria: a naval logistics center in the port city of Tartus and the Khmeimim airbase near the town of Jableh in the Latakia province.
