Iraq, Iran, Syria call for global push to reach peace in Syria

TUNIS, December 6. /TASS/. Top Iraqi, Iranian and Syrian diplomats have called for mobilizing regional and international efforts to reach peace in Syria.

"We need to mobilize the efforts of all Arab countries, as well as regional and international [efforts] to resolve the problems facing the region as a whole and Syria in particular peacefully, Foreign Ministers Fuad Hussein of Iraq, Abbas Araghchi of Iran, and Bassam Sabagh of Syria said in a joint statement after their trilateral meeting in Baghdad.

"The threat to Syria’s security endangers the stability of the entire region and there is no way to eliminate the risk of escalation in the region other than coordination, cooperation and diplomatic consultations," the ministers stressed.

According to the Syrian government army command, the terrorists attempted to seize a number of neighborhoods and military facilities, attacking the positions of government forces. Later, the Syrian army command said that government forces had to retreat from Aleppo to and prepare for a counterattack.

On December 5, the Syrian army command said that militants had infiltrated sever neighborhoods in the city of Hama, the administrative center of the governorate of the same name in western Syria. According to its statement, government forces were redeployed outside the city.
